ILOILO CITY – Less than a week after assuming as police chief of Western Visayas region, Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan led a random drug testing on Friday, June 27.

Ligan initially called for a meeting of key commanders of the Police Regional Office-6 in Camp Delgado, the regional police headquarters.
Instead of a meeting, Ligan conducted a random drug testing in accordance with the policy set by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
“We (in the police force) should lead by example,” Ligan said.
The drug testing sought to assess the integrity of commanders and assure that no one is involved in illegal drugs.
Ligan warned that police officers who still test positive during a confirmatory testing will face not only administrative but also criminal charges.
Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the drug testing will be cascaded by the commanders in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the capital Iloilo City.
