House Speaker Martin Romualdez has doubled down on his promise to foster unity and equality for all Filipinos on the occasion of Amun Jadid.
As our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrate the beginning of the New Year in the Hijri calendar, I wholeheartedly join you in commemorating Amun Jadid),'' Romualdez said in a statement on Thursday night, June 26.
According to Romualdez, Amun Jadid, or the Islamic New Year, is a time for spiritual renewal, reflection and a reaffirmation of one’s commitment to peace, compassion and community.
''The lessons of the Hijrah – sacrifice, perseverance and deep faith – continue to inspire not just the Muslim faithful but all Filipinos who strive for a better and more just future,'' he noted.
(As Speaker of the House of Representatives, I remain committed to advancing unity and equality for all citizens. We recognize the vital role that our Muslim brothers and sisters play in promoting peace and the progress of our nation.)
(May this Amun Jadid be meaningful and peaceful for all of you. From the heart, a peaceful New Year to you.)
