THE Land Transportation Office cracks down against traffic violators in Western Visayas. (LTO-6)
ILOILO CITY – The Land Transportation Office-6 apprehended 1,531 traffic violators in Western Visayas in a two-week night-time crackdown.
LTO-6 Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu oversaw the “Night Shift Law Enforcement Operation.”
The crackdown that started last June 10 saw LTO deputized personnel conducting mobile checkpoints to enforce various traffic laws.
Among the violations were unregistered vehicles, expired licenses, failure to wear seatbelts, and riding motorcycles without prescribed helmets.
“Risky driving behavior often increases at night, so sustained enforcement is crucial to protecting lives,” said Relin Reyes, chief of the LTO-6 Regional Law Enforcement Section.
The crackdown is part of the memorandum of LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II as well as the directive of Secretary Vince Dizon of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to strengthen road safety.
