The Philippine Army (PA) has honed the leadership skills and technical proficiency of its junior non-commissioned officers (NCOs), who are expected to be the next generation of leaders in the military, it was reported Friday, June 27.
Chief Master Sergeant Marvin M. Jurane, Army command sergeant major, led a leadership forum for the PA's junior NCOs in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, bringing together the Army’s young guns with the ranks of Private First Class to Staff Sergeant assigned at different field units and offices.
Jurane said the forum “enhanced the capacity of junior NCOs to serve effectively in their roles and contribute to the overall readiness and discipline of the organization.”
Held on June 24 to 25, the program helped in fostering leadership development, professional excellence, and camaraderie among the junior NCOs’ early and formative years in the service.
It also aims to ensure sustained service excellence and continuity across the different generations of the Army.
Personnel from the United States Army served as resource persons and delivered lectures to help in shaping the young minds of the NCOs.
Junior NCOs are typically assigned to lead and supervise smaller teams or squads within the Army.
They are directed to implement orders from higher-ranking officers and ensure the day-to-day operations of their units, hence serving as a crucial link between enlisted personnel and higher-ranking officers.
