Cavite 1st district Rep. Jolo Revilla is calling on Congress to be ready to provide supplemental funding to support the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Department of Migrant Workers' (DMW) operations in connection with the Israel-Iran conflict.
In a statement Friday morning, June 27, Revilla also asked his fellow lawmakers to fast-track emergency measures on the matter.
“Our OFWs are the lifeblood of our economy and the pride of the Filipino nation. Protecting them is not just a moral obligation—it is our solemn duty,” Revilla said.
“This is no longer just a bilateral war—it’s turning into a regional crisis with far-reaching consequences,” said the solon from Cavite.
“Our OFWs are scattered across this high-risk zone. The Philippine government must act now to ensure their safety before borders close and commercial routes become inaccessible, Revilla noted.
The Cavite solon urged the DFA to be in close coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) for the mobilization of all embassies and consulates in the Middle East to immediately assess ground conditions, identify evacuation corridors, preposition supplies, and activate emergency response protocols.
Revilla also stressed the need to establish an inter-agency task force that will focus solely on the repatriation, transportation, and reintegration of OFWs who may be forced to flee their host countries as the conflict spreads.
