Reports also state that American Vogue is currently seeking a head of editorial content to manage the magazine’s day-to-day operations. This new leader will report directly to Anna.
“Anybody in a creative field knows how essential it is never to stop growing in one’s work. When I became the editor of Vogue, I was eager to prove to all who might listen that there was a new, exciting way to imagine an American fashion magazine,” Anna said during a staff meeting.
“Now, I find that my greatest pleasure is helping the next generation of impassioned editors storm the field with their own ideas, supported by a new, exciting view of what a major media company can be.”
Since becoming editor-in-chief in 1988, Anna has revolutionized American Vogue—famously pioneering celebrity covers and breaking long-held fashion norms.
In addition to leading the magazine, Anna has chaired and overseen the Met Gala, the annual fundraising event that serves as the opening celebration for the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Since the 1990s, she has transformed it into one of the most high-profile and influential fashion events in the world.
