ILOILO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is pushing Western Visayas region anew as destination for healthcare tech services.
AN agreement is signed to strengthen and promote Healthcare Information Management Service (HIMS) in Western Visayas region. (DTI-6)
“This is Western Visayas making a clear statement that we’re ready to compete on the global stage – that we could be the preferred destination in the Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS),” said DTI-6 Regional Director Rachel Nufable at the HIMSCON 2025 conference at Diversion21 Hotel here.
The June 25 to 26 gathered industry experts, entrepreneurs, educators, and government to explore the various challenges of the HIMS, particularly on the impact of artificial intelligence as well as cybersecurity threats.
Nufable reiterated that these challenges must be faced as HIMS is not only just about innovation but also can provide thousands of high-value jobs for people across the region.
DTI Assistant Secretary Leonila Baluyut lauded the strong partnerships between the various sectors of Western Visayas to boost its roadmap in becoming a major HIMS destination.
The DTI signed a memorandum of agreement to develop and promote HIMS through skills development, curriculum alignment, industry exposure, and digital innovation.
The agreement was signed by the Department of Education-6, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), and the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP).
