Policemen arrest Teodulo (wearing yellow) inside his house in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal.
A 72-year-old man, tagged as Rizal Province's most wanted person for attempted murder, was finally arrested by the police after six years of hiding, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said.
Rizal PPO chief Col. Felipe Maraggun identified the suspect as “Teodulo,” a resident of Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal. He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the RTC Branch 75, of San Mateo, Rizal.
Based on the police investigation, the crime occurred on June 14, 2019, when the suspect suddenly shot the victim who was then busy repairing his motorcycle.
A bystander was also hit by a stray bullet coming from Teodulo's gun.
The suspect and his companion escaped in the direction of Barangay San Isidro.
He had since then transferred to different places and towns to escape the law.
Maraggun said the suspect appeared to have been harboring anger towards the victim, which pushed him to shoot him.
In an interview, Teodulo denied he shot the victim, and said that he should be released from jail because he is innocent.
He also denied he was hiding from the police for six years, claiming he just went and stayed in Cavite City for a year to attend the funeral service of his deceased relative.
