Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development by supporting thirty-four (34) public schools across eleven (11) provinces in this year’s Brigada Eskwela campaign –the annual school maintenance program of the Department of Education (DepEd) which aims to mobilize volunteers and stakeholders to prepare public schools for the new school year.

Reaching more than 40,000 students, teachers, and staff, MGEN’s participation reflects the company’s continued investment in education and its host communities. With over Php 1 million worth of assistance and nearly 400 employee-volunteers mobilized, MGEN provided much-needed resources and hands-on assistance. Donations included classroom and office supplies, audiovisual equipment, cleaning tools, and construction materials – all tailored to the needs identified by each school.
MGEN’s employees also went beyond donations, as volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help repaint classrooms, repair school infrastructure, and clean school grounds. This year’s Brigada Eskwela efforts reached far and wide — from Luzon to Visayas — covering 11 provinces, including Bulacan, Cebu, Aklan, Iloilo, Batangas, Isabela, Tarlac, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Metro Manila, and Quezon. These efforts were made possible through the collaborative work of MGEN’s thermal and renewable energy arms. By working closely with local school administrators and communities, MGEN ensured that its support was timely, targeted, and impactful.
At MGEN, we believe that energy powers progress -- not just through buildings, businesses, and factories, but also through people. Education is one of the most powerful drivers of that progress, and we are proud to support initiatives like Brigada Eskwela that invest in the future of our youth, MGEN President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio said.
MGEN’s continued participation in Brigada Eskwela reflects its belief that supporting education is a sustained responsibility. By supporting public schools through Brigada Eskwela, MGEN helps strengthen the foundations of learning and community development – recognizing that strong schools help build strong futures in the areas it serves.
