Grade 8 student, cohort nabbed for robbing media crew cab in Marikina
A 17-year-old Grade 8 student and his accomplice were nabbed for allegedly being involved in a basag-kotse incident in Barangay Parang, Marikina City, the Marikina City Police said.
Based on the police report, a media cameraman reported that his media pickup was robbed while parked in Barangay Parang wherein an estimated P500,000 worth of media equipment was stolen.
The police quickly launched a follow-up operation which led to the two suspects' arrest in Molave, Marikina.
However, they failed to recover the stolen broadcast equipment.
The suspects denied their involvement in the crime, saying that they were just being blamed for the incident.
Meanwhile, further police investigation revealed that one of the suspects had been jailed six times for other crimes including illegal drugs, robbery, illegal gambling, and theft.
The student suspect was turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development while his cohort was placed under police custody. Both are facing theft charges.
