Ex-cashier linked to Caloocan supermarket theft arrested after 4 years

A former cashier accused of involvement in a series of supermarket thefts in Caloocan City was arrested on Wednesday, June 25, nearly four years after the crimes were committed.
Personnel from the Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) identified the suspect as Rosephine, 35. She was arrested at around 2 p.m., at her residence in Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City,
According to investigators, the suspect allegedly conspired with accomplices posing as customers.
The group reportedly bypassed the scanning process at the checkout counter to smuggle out items, causing thousands of pesos in losses.
The discrepancies were discovered by supermarket management who reported the incidents to authorities.
A subpoena was issued in 2021, However, the suspect had already flown to Saudi Arabia to work as a domestic helper.
An arrest warrant was issued in 2022. After her return to the Philippines in 2023, police confirmed her presence and arrested her.
Rosephine is facing charges for five counts of qualified theft.
