CEBU CITY – Wary of global issues, particulary the war between Israel and Iran, the provincial government of Bohol are bracing for possible price hikes.
Precautionary measures against potential increase on prices of basic commodities were tackled when the Provincial Price Coordinating Council (PPCC) convened on Tuesday, June 24.
Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte led the meeting that focused on strengthening local price monitoring systems and assessing the supply situation of basic goods and commodities
The council emphasized that with price movements likely to be influenced by global disruptions, vigilance and timely reporting on the local level are needed.
Anticipating possible price surges, the PPCC plans to issue show-cause orders to establishments found imposing unjustified price increases.
The council underscored the importance of swift and coordinated responses to any sudden market changes, especially in instances where a price freeze may be in effect.
Regular reporting mechanisms and collaborative monitoring efforts with concerned agencies are set to continue, as part of the province’s effort to safeguard consumers and maintain market stability in the face of external economic pressures.
