Megaworld taps Accor for rebranding, operation of homegrown hotel brands
Top township developer Megaworld Corp. has tapped Accor Group to share its expertise and operate select homegrown hotel brands under its hospitality arm Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.
Andrew Tan-led Megaworld is the country’s largest developer and operator of homegrown Filipino hotel brands, while Accor is a world-leading hospitality group offering stays and experiences across more than 110 countries with over 5,600 hotels and resorts.
Known for its hospitality brands such as Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel, Pullman, Mövenpick, and Mercure, Accor will bring in its standards in guest services, as well as in terms of the reservation system.
Moving forward, this partnership will also open up the select Megaworld hotel properties’ inclusion in Accor’s loyalty program, ALL ACCOR, so that hotel guests will be able to earn points and other perks when booking in these hotels.
Currently, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts has 13 operational hotel properties, with around 7,000 hotel rooms in some of the country’s key tourism destinations in Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay.
These include properties under the Richmonde Hotel brand (Richmonde Hotel Ortigas, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, and Richmonde Hotel Iloilo), Belmont Hotel brand (Belmont Manila, Belmont Boracay, and Belmont Mactan), Savoy Hotel brand (Savoy Manila, Savoy Mactan, and Savoy Boracay), Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Twin Lakes Hotel, Kingsford Hotel Manila, and Grand Westside Hotel.
Belmont Hotel Mactan will be the first property to transition into Mercure Mactan Cebu as a franchise within the 30-hectare (ha) The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu this year. Mercure is one of the more than 40 hotel brands currently under Accor’s portfolio.

She noted that, “With Mercure Mactan Cebu, we aim to redefine Cebu’s tourism landscape by combining our group’s local expertise with Accor’s global leadership in hospitality.
“Mercure Mactan Cebu will not only enhance the Mactan Newtown development as a destination of choice but also play a pivotal role in driving tourism growth and stimulating the local economy; opening opportunities for better returns for immediate stakeholders and supporting a thriving local community.”
Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia Andrew Langdon said, “We are accelerating the growth of our premium, midscale and economy (PM&E) division with a focused strategy to expand in sought-after destinations across Asia.”
“The Philippines remains a vital market for us, and the signing of Mercure Mactan Cebu is fully aligned with our ambition to meet the growing demand for hotels that serve both leisure and business travelers, driven by the continued rise of bleisure travel,” he added.
Langdon noted that, “With Mactan-Cebu International Airport among the country’s leading gateways, Cebu is fast emerging as a preferred destination for domestic and international visitors.
