Israel back to 'full activity status' after ceasefire agreement

The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv announced that Israel is now back to its “full activity status” after a fragile ceasefire seemed to have held hours after it began.

The advisory was posted on the embassy’s Facebook account on Wednesday, June 25.

“Kasunod ng pag anunsyo ng ceasefire ngayong araw, idineklara ng IDF Home Front Command ang pagbabalik ng Full Activity status sa buong Israel. Samakatuwid, maaari na ng magbukas ang mga paaralan at lugar na pinagtatrabahuhan, at wala na ring limitasyon sa pagtitipon at pagsamba (Following the announcement of the ceasefire today, the IDF Home Front Command announced the return of Full Activity status in Israel. This means that schools and workplaces can reopen, and there are no limitation in gatherings and worship),” the embassy said.

However, the embassy advised Filipinos in Israel to continue being vigilant, alert, and to monitor the IDF’s safety guidelines and embassy safety advisories.

The advisory came after a ceasefire was announced by United States President Donald Trump following the US bombing of three of Iran’s nuclear sites and Iran’s retaliatory attack on a US military camp in Qatar.

Shortly thereafter, the US chief executive announced that a truce has been reached between the warring neighbors and it would take effect after the last of their missions have been completed.

Both Israel and Iran said they would follow the ceasefire as long as the other follows it, too.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries, saying that it is “hopeful that it will be a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the region.”

“We urge all parties concerned to continue engaging in dialogue and negotiations toward a permanent solution to this issue,” it added.

In a statement, Israel announced that it “has removed from over it a double existential threat – on both the nuclear issue and regarding ballistic missiles.”

“The IDF also achieved complete air superiority in the skies over Tehran, struck a severe blow to the military leadership and destroyed dozens of Iran's main regime targets,” it added.

After achieving the objectives of “Operation Rising Lion,” Israel said that it “agrees to the President's (Trump) proposal for a bilateral ceasefire.”

However, it warned that “Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

The latest report from the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv showed that the number of injured Filipinos due to Iran’s retaliatory attacks remained at eight, with one still in critical condition and seven others discharged after receiving treatments for minor to moderate injuries.

Some 135 lost their homes because of the missile impact, with 125 transferred to temporary accommodations and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) shelters and 10 being processed for resettlement.

With alert level 3 or voluntary repatriation raised in Iran and Israel following the 12-day war, some 26 Filipinos from Israel have undergone voluntary repatriation, while another 100 Filipino pilgrims and students have been repatriated earlier.

The next batch of 50 Filipinos will be repatriated soon, the embassy said.

The embassy also extended various forms of assistance, such as emergency financial assistance, provision of temporary shelter, and relief packages containing food, clothes, and hygiene products, to some 402 Filipinos.
