ILOILO CITY — Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the province of Iloilo are being monitored as tensions continue between Israel and Iran.
As of June 25, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Iloilo recorded 66 affected Ilonggo OFWs in Israel.
The municipality of Zarraga has the most number of affected OFW with 16, followed by Maasin with 12, five from Cabatuan, four each from Badiangan and Oton, three each from Janiuay, Leganes, and Pototan, two OFWs each from Balasan, Dueñas, Lambunao, San Joaquin, and Passi City, and Anilao Barotac Nuevo, Batad, Guimbal, and Igbaras have one each.
There are also four affected Ilonggo OFWs in Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar.
Even with the escalating tension, PESO-Iloilo Officer Cynthia Parcon Dario said no OFW has signified intention to go home.
Dario said that they can opt to repatriate as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has raised the alert level to three and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has urged voluntary repatriation.
