State-run Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has disbursed a combined total of ₱413.4 billion, covering 1.9 million approved loan applications under its Ginhawa Flex and Ginhawa Lite programs.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso reported during the pension fund’s stakeholders’ dialogue on Wednesday, June 25, that the Ginhawa Flex loan, GSIS’s flagship multi-purpose loan program launched in September 2023, has reached ₱401.2 billion in loan releases.
This value translates into nearly 1.44 million approved loan applications of members as of Monday, June 23.
According to GSIS, this loan allows members to borrow up to ₱5 million or 14 times their monthly salary, which can be repaid over 15 years, depending on their paid premiums.
Meanwhile, the Ginhawa Lite program has so far disbursed ₱12.2 billion to ₱409,000 members since its launch in October last year.
It offers loans ranging from ₱5,000 to ₱50,000, payable over two to six years, with an interest rate of six to seven percent—the same rate as Ginhawa Flex. The program is designed for smaller, emergency needs.
Veloso stressed that “more than disbursements, these numbers represent real relief and support for public servants. Every reform we make, every service we improve, starts with listening to our members.”
Ninety-nine percent of GSIS transactions are now done online, powered by digital innovations such as the GSIS Touch mobile app, in-app facial recognition for pensioners, Digital GSIS ID, and Digital Hubs at branch offices.
“These initiatives have dramatically reduced processing times and eliminated long lines,” GSIS said, as both loans are available via the GSIS Touch mobile app.
Another major update is the simplified process for the Ginhawa Max Loan Buyout, which now only requires a letter of intent from the agency head.
Ginhawa Max offers a fresh start to members with no service fee, with a six to seven percent interest rate, and repayment terms of up to 10 years. Borrowers can take up to ₱5 million or 19 times their salary, whichever is lower, depending on their premiums.
Additionally, more than 4,000 families secured homes through the lease-with-option-to-buy program, while nearly 2,000 borrowers kept their homes under the Housing Accounts Remedial and Condonation Program.
GSIS is also expanding its insurance coverage, now protecting more than 130,000 public school buildings under its National Indemnity Insurance Program.
Key officials and employees from government agencies and partner institutions attended the dialogue, which served as a venue for GSIS to share updates on its reforms and hear feedback directly from stakeholders.
