ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A female student and her mother were taken to the hospital here on Tuesday, June 24, after inhaling fumes from a chemical substance used in a science experiment.
The victims, 42-year-old Helen Cagaanan and daughter Darlyn Jane, 19, reportedly inhaled the fumes of a chemical substance known as potassium hydrochloride chlorine.
Investigation showed that a bottle containing the chemical was accidentally opened by Helen, causing the fumes to disperse inside their home.
Both victims reportedly inhaled the fumes, resulting in difficulty in breathing and mild concussion.
First responders were called and administered first aid. They were transported to a government hospital.
Investigation showed that the chemical was used by Darlyn for a science experiment.
