Asked why he chose the education committee, Aquino said he aims to address the current educational crisis happening in the Philippines.
“Definitely, the education portfolio is really my target. At nag-request nga ako sa mga kabataan at sa mga volunteers namin na ipagdasal nila na makuha ko yung committee na yun para talagang ma-fulfill natin yung mga kailangan natin (And we have requested our youth, and our volunteers to pray that I get this committee so we can really fulfill what we need),” he pointed out.
“We have an educational crisis now. Kung puro politika yung pinag-uusapan natin, parang nawawala rin yung pansin dun sa mga bagay na mahalaga sa tao (If we are going to concentrate on politics, we’ll lose focus on the things that are really important to the people),” he stressed.
