Antipolo Cathedral continues to attract pilgrims

  • The pilgrimage season comes to a close on July 8.
As the pilgrimage season nears its end on July 8, the crowd of pilgrims continues to visit the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, also known as the Antipolo Cathedral in Antipolo City.
Busloads of devotees and pilgrims have been arriving every day since May in the city proper where the Antipolo Cathedral is located, according to the city's traffic management personnel.

Among those who visited the international shrine recently were senior citizens belonging to the Kaagapay ng mga Senior Citizens ng Barangay La Huerta in Paranaque City led by Mely Martin and Dr. Mel Capistrano.
The seniors’ group leaders said the visit to the international shrine was their annual pilgrimage in fulfillment of their strong devotion to the Virgin Mary whose 17th-century image is enshrined in Antipolo’s international shrine.

The group of elderly said they were thankful that the Paranaque City government offered a bus to transport their group to the Pilgrimage Capital.
Novena masses are being held hour after hour every day in the cathedral during the pilgrimage season from May 6 up to July 8.
A procession in the vicinity of the cathedral is held at the end of the nine days of novena masses.
The procession participants recited the prayers in the Holy Rosary, holding a lighted candle as they followed the carriage bearing the image of the Our Lady of Antipolo. 
Residents and devotees from Metro Manila and nearby towns in the province joined the procession.

During the end of the fifth novena Masses, Bishop Napoleon Sipayan, Jr. of the Diocese of Alaminos in Pangasinan, led the Mass. 
Pilgrims from nearby cities in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces who visited the cathedral for their annual pilgrimage also made a side trip to other areas and tourist destinations in Antipolo City and the province, to complete their pilgrimage season journey in Rizal Province.
