At least nine individuals were reportedly injured in a multiple-vehicle collision along Sumulong Highway in Barangay Mambugan, Antipolo City, on Wednesday afternoon, June 25.
According to the Antipolo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), responders were able to extract the driver of a dump truck involved in the accident after he was trapped in the driver’s seat for nearly an hour. The driver was reported to be responsive.
The dump truck also collided with a wing van. A car, two motorcycles, and a Toktok (tricycle) were also involved in the crash.
An elf truck carrying bottles of soft drinks was also affected, causing the bottles to spill and shatter on the road.
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares said the incident occurred at around 2 p.m., resulting in heavy traffic near Francisville and Xentromall.
CDRRMO personnel immediately responded to the scene, along with responders from Barangay Mambugan, the Office of Public Safety and Security (OPSS), Antipolo police, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other barangay rescue teams to clear the area.
A private towing service arrived at around 3:04 p.m. to remove the damaged vehicles.
Ynares said that as of 5:10 p.m., some of the vehicles involved in the accident had already been removed, along with other obstructions. Both directions are now passable, with only light traffic remaining in the area.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
