5 SPD police officers recognized for exceptional service, leadership
The Southern Police District (SPD) announced that five of its police officers, including Las Pinas Police Chief Col. Sandro Tafalla, were recognized during the Ignacio Gimenez Outstanding Police Service Awards for demonstrating exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to public safety.
The recognition was held on June 23 at the Ramon Magsaysay Center in Malate, Manila, organized by the JCI Manila in partnership with the Gimenez Foundation.

Tafalla was recognized for his visionary leadership and effective crime prevention strategies in Las Pinas, thus, making the city safe.
The other awardees were Police Chief Master Sgt. Richard Barsolaso of the Las Pinas Police Warrant and Subpoena Section, who was recognized for his unwavering commitment to ensuring swift and lawful service of warrant or arrest; Master Sgt. Rondel Asuncion of the Pasay City Police Community Affairs Section, for his unyielding integrity and contributions in weeding out rogue elements; Staff Sgt. Veronica Abrea of SPD District Community Affairs Development Division (DCADD), for her exemplary dedication to community engagement and public affairs; and Pat. Mariano Villanueva, also from SPD-DCADD, for his proactive involvement in grassroots peace and order programs.
SPD Acting District Director Brig. Gen Randy Arceo expressed his pride in the awardees and said the unflinching dedication of their men and women in SPD is amply demonstrated by the recognition.
Arceo also said the SPD will keep providing communities in the Southern Metro Manila with the best possible service.
He said the awardees have exemplified the values of excellence, integrity, courage, and professionalism, aligning with the core mission of the Philippine National Police under its chief, Gen Nicolas D. Torre III.
