Authorities arrested two drivers involved in the fatal road accident that killed a 36-year-old cyclist in Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City on Tuesday afternoon, June 24.
Based on the Eastern Police District’s (EPD) initial investigation, the victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was riding his mountain bike when he collided with a Suzuki vehicle that was allegedly illegally parked along Shaw Boulevard.
It said that the driver of the Suzuki, a 39-year-old man, was unloading water gallons when the vehicle’s tailgate suddenly opened just as the victim was passing by, hitting the right side of his bike.
As a result, the victim lost control and fell to the ground. At that exact moment, a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, driven by a 59-year-old man, happened to be passing through the same lane and accidentally ran over him, resulting in his immediate death.
Pasig police immediately arrested the two drivers. A case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property is now being prepared for filing and inquest at the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
