PH math team wins big in 12-nation Singapore contest

  • The 39-member Philippine team bagged 14 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze medals plus six special awards in the 12-nation contest.
Filipino math wizards have made the country proud again after winning multiple medals and awards in the STEMCO International Mathematics Competition global finals held in Singapore on June 20 to 23, 2025.
According to the Mathematics Trainers' Guild (MTG) which mentored the members of the delegation, the 39-member Philippine team bagged 14 gold, 14 silver, 11 bronze medals, and six special awards in the 12-nation contest.

In addition to the host country and the Philippines, teams from Russia, Mongolia, Serbia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia also participated in the event. A total of 400 math aces participated in the competition.
MTG head Dr. Simon Chua named the Filipino gold medalists as German Wilhelm Crisostomo of Colegio San Agustin Binan; Ace Oliver Inocencio of Antique National School; Garuen Eirich Maddatu of Taguig Science High School; Juan Antonio Mance of St. Stephen's High School; Harold Jude Diamante of Phil. Science High School Bicol; Shaun Tyrone Xu of Grace Christian College; Daniela Renomeron of Miriam College; John Elijah Bendicion of Grace Christian College; Alixter Shaun Chua of Grace Christian College; Sean Carlo Nuez of Mother Goose Special School System; Ulfricht Uriel Patagos of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; Zachariah Vincent Abenoja of Elizabeth Seton School Las Pinas; Samarah Buenconsejo of Pangasinan Universal Institute, and Marybela Carelle Chua, also of Pangasinan Universal Institute.
The silver medal winners are Perkins James Arejola, Moslah Jhase Choi and Jhonny Cal, all of Philippine Cultural College; Eunice Mycel Lim of Iloilo Scholastic Academy; Audrielle Renee de Leon and Larry Raboy of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur; Nicolo Emyr Fabila of Ateneo de Davao University; Coby Spencer Nuez of Mother Goose Special School System; Danielle Gabriella France Pascual of Colegio San Agustin Bulacan; Adam Justine Aca of Claret School of Quezon City; Anze Licah Castaneda of St. Jude Catholic School; Thea Lauryn Morada of Colegio San Agustin Makati; Mary Antonette Yanto of Phil. Science High School Bicol, and Aaron Tyler Dy Po of Grace Christian College.

The bronze medalists are Seoyun Yu of Reedley International School; Raden Zander de Guzman of BHC Educational Institution; Yagil Sawan of University of San Carlos Cebu; Yat Him Rayden Hung of Chiang Kai Shek College; Chloe Felicity Wan of Northern Rizal Yorklin School; Johann Enzo Sabalburo of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur; Enzo Sebastian Yeung of Chiang Kai Shek College; Jerson Cabeje of College of St. Anthony; Perkins James Arejola and Delsey Rostata of Phil. Cultural College, and Joshia Lorenzo Agatep of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur.
The team also garnered overall champion honors in Grades 2, 7, and 8 levels, courtesy of Nuez, Diamante, and Maddatu, respectively.

The contingent also swept the Top 3 awards in STEMCO's Got Talent category.
PH Team leader Robert Degolacion noted that winners Mance (electric guitar performance), Chua (song performance), and Wan (wushu exhibition) showcased both academic excellence and artistic talents.
Earlier, MTG-trained students were among the more than 600 math aces who passed STEMCO's qualifying test for the Singapore contest during the NGO's Young Mathematicians' In-House Intensive Training.
During the exercise, the students won 50 gold, 208 silver, and 188 bronze medals plus 157 merit certificates.

STEMCO groups an “aspiring team of Math Olympiad winners turned professional educators, data analysts, and IT specialists,” the MTG said.
“It sets out on a journey to create an international platform that enables students to develop apt competencies and best themselves through competition. STEMCO envisions a community of teachers, students, and their parents who strive to embrace, embody, and promote the Best Yourself spirit,” it added.
