CEBU CITY – It was a case of double whammy for this 37-year-old suspected robber.
Rodaive Asintesta Belleza was accused of robbing a motorcycle delivery rider but only got P100.
He was also arrested in only about three minutes after the robbery on Tuesday morning, June 24, in Barangay Talavera, Toledo City, Cebu province.
The 49-year-old victim, Jamerito Abrasada, said the suspect booked a ride from N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City to Tabunok, Talisay City.
When they arrived in Tabunok, the suspect directed Abrasada to bring him instead to Campo 1, another barangay in Talisay.
Abrasada said when they arrived in their destination, the suspect, instead of paying, drew a gun and declared a holdup.
The driver continued driving and told the suspect that he only had P100 as he was just his second passenger of the day.
The suspect took the P100 and fled when they reached Barangay Dumlog, Toledo City. The victim drove to the police station to report.
Police Lt. Col. Wilfredo Alarcon Jr., chief of the Toledo Coty police, said responding lawmen were able to track down the suspect about three minutes after the incident was reported.
The suspect was caught hiding in a house owned by a retired soldier, said Alarcon.
Alarcon said the suspect appeared high on illegal drugs when he was arrested.
Aside from the firearm that was used in the robbery, suspected shabu was also recovered from the suspect, Alarcon said.
Charges for robbery with intimidation and illegal possession of firearms and possession of illegal drugs will be filed against the suspect, Alarcon said.
