EvoEnergi partners with MGen for expanded power supply, including RE
Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen), the power generation arm of Manila Electric Company, has finalized power supply agreements to provide renewable energy (RE) to EvoEnergi Inc.
In a statement, MGen announced that the company, through its thermal and RE subsidiaries, MThermal and MGreen, signed two power supply agreements (PSAs) with EvoEnergi, a newly licensed electricity supplier (RES).
The partnership will allow EvoEnergi to offer its RES customers a mix of energy sources at competitive prices. The agreement stipulates that MGen's units will supply power sufficient for approximately 62,000 households, drawing from both renewable and thermal sources.
EvoEnergi, an affiliate of D&L Industries, Inc., is one of the first renewable energy (RES) companies to implement the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), which enables multiple customers to combine their demand to access a more competitive electricity supply.
By combining conventional and renewable sources, we are helping meet the evolving needs of the retail electricity market while supporting the country’s transition to a cleaner and more secure energy future, Emmanuel Rubio, MGen president and chief executive officer, said.
MGen also stated that this initiative will expand MGreen's reach beyond government initiatives, such as the Green Energy Option and Auction programs.
Alvin Lao, President and CEO of D&L Industries, Inc., said that this partnership has secured a diversified power supply for EvoEnergi. It solidifies our shared commitment to sustainability and forging a better future for the Philippines, he added.
MGen's power generation assets include subsidiaries such as MThermal, MGreen, MGen Gas Energy Holdings, Inc. (MNatural Gas), and it holds stakes in Singapore’s PacificLight Power (PLP) and SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC).
