DI bombmaker wounded in Maguindanao del Norte clash
COTABATO CITY – Government forces arrested an alleged bomb-making expert of the Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) local terrorist group following a clash in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Brig. Gen. Vladimir R. Cagara, commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT), said soldiers were responding to reports about the presence of the DI Salahuddin Hassan Group in Barangay Alamada, Sultan Kudarat, on Monday when a firefight erupted.
When the exchange of fire ceased, a man was seen wounded. He was immediately arrested and then taken to the hospital by soldiers.
Cagara identified the man as Kamsa Budjal, a member of the DI Salahuddin Hassan group operating in the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte.
Seized from him were two rifles, a shotgun, medical paraphernalia, a mobile phone, ingredients for bomb-making, and personal belongings.
Major Gen. Donald Gumiran, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, commended operating troops for the successful operation.
“You have shown the highest professionalism and dedication of our troops,” Gumiran said, as he urged remaining terrorists in the provinces to accept the government’s peace offer. (PNA)
