SANTA FE, Nueva Vizcaya – A 1,000-pound (about 500 kilos) unexploded vintage bomb was found in an irrigation canal beside a rice field in Barangay Tactac here on Tuesday, June 24.

Police Major Fernando Bag-ayan, town chief of police, said the bomb was discovered by a farmer who was fixing the irrigation for his farm.
It was still intact and alarmed residents.
Police sought assistance from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal of the Regional Explosive Canine Unit of the Police Regional Office-2 for proper handling.
The EOD described the World War II Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) as a one-piece bomb, weighed 1,000 pounds, and GP corroded.
Bang-ayan said that the bomb was transported to a safe place while awaiting proper disposal to prevent potential harm to the public.
He called on people to immediately report all unexploded ordnances they find in the area to the police.
