House Speaker Martin Romualdez has announced the passing of fellow 19th Congress member, ANGAT Party-list Rep. Reynaldo Tamayo Sr.
It is with a heavy heart that I join the House of Representatives in mourning the passing of our dear colleague, ANGAT Party-list Representative Reynaldo S. Tamayo Sr., Romualdez wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday night, June 22.
'We honor the memory of a good man who gave his best to the Filipino people, noted the Leyte 1st district representative.
The House chief praised Tamayo for his silent but hardworking nature.
Rep. Tamayo was a quiet force in the 19th Congress—a man who let his work speak for itself. He carried the voice of the marginalized with sincerity, always choosing service over spotlight, Romualdez said.
Tamayo served as vice chairman of three House panels--the Committees on Mindanao Affairs, Natural Resources, and Trade and Industry.
He was also a member of the Committee on East ASEAN Growth Area.
More than a legislator, he was a friend to many of us in the House. His kindness, humility, and steady commitment to public service will not be forgotten, Romualdez said.
On behalf of the House, I extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We stand with them in this time of grief, he added.
