BANGUED, Abra – Gunmen killed a farmer resting in a cradle in Sitio Katungawan, Barangay Basbasa, Tayum, Abra on Sunday morning, June 22.
Police Lt. Col. Daniel Pel-ey, chief of the Abra police Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU), said the victim Eugenio Lazarte died from a bullet wound in the head.
Lazarte had just cleaned a rice paddy and a drinking session with his neighbor before he was killed.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation and pursuing the two suspects who fled onboard a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, police have identified a person of interest in the murder of a farmer in Barangay Villaflor, Cauayan City, Isabela on Friday, June 20.
Investigation said the victim Armando M. Manuel, 42, was about to sleep at 12:55 p.m. when the suspects threw stones at his house to attract his attention.
Manuel went out to check and he was shot by unidentified gunmen.
The suspects fled and Manuel was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the victim was on probation for an attempted homicide case before he was killed.
