Government anti-narcotics agents seized on Sunday, June 22, around P7.15 M worth of ketamine following the arrest of a Cebu bound South Korean passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
The PDEA said that the NAIA Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Group (IAITG) confiscated over 1,430 grams of suspected ketamine from the 39-year old foreigner at around 6:20 p.m. at the final security screening at the Domestic Departure Area of the NAIA Terminal 2.’
During the security inspection, the authorities discovered a foil-wrapped transparent plastic bag containing approximately the suspected ketamine, alongside bundles of toiletries, banana chips and dried mangoes.
“Further search yielded non-drug items such as travel documents, a foreign passport, boarding pass, a mobile phone, and several bank cards. These are now under review as part of an ongoing investigation,’’ the PDEA noted.
The PDEA said that all of the confiscated items have been turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service for confirmatory testing.
