Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco Duke Frasco has clarified that he is not eyeing the House Speakership in the 20th Congress.
In a Facebook post on Monday night, June 23, Frasco said he would vote for either incoming Bacolod lone district Rep. Albee Benitez or Navotas City lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco for the top post in the House of Representatives.
Contrary to recent reports, I have not made any decision—much less offered myself—for the position of Speaker of the House in the 20th Congress. At this time, my focus remains on supporting the President’s agenda and contributing to the broader goals of national unity and development, wrote Frasco, a deputy speaker in the just-concluded 19th Congress.
My commitment to the President’s vision remains firm. I believe the House of Representatives must be a united and proactive partner in delivering meaningful, lasting change for the Filipino people, he said
That said, if the election for Speaker were held today, my support would go to either Cong. Toby Tiangco or Cong. Albee Benitez, said Frasco, husband of Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco.
Between Benitez and Tiangco, it's the latter who has publicly revealed interest for the Speakership in the upcoming Congress.
