ENRILE, Cagayan – The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office based in Solana, this province, caught a dangerous Luzon King Cobra (Ophiophagus Salvatana) snake with 50 eggs in a residential area in Zone 4, Barangay Magalalag West, here, on Sunday, June 22.
AN endangered Luzon King Cobra was rescued in Cagayan in June 22.
Residents reported the presence of the dreaded snake species to the CENRO after it attacked and killed a dog and her puppies in the area.
Val Casauay and Roldan Fieror of the Conservation and Development Section of CENRO-Solana, with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Enrile, responded and captured the snake and recovered its eggs.
The captured snake is one of the protected species under the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
The snake and its eggs were turned over to the RBB Nature Park and Wildlife Center in Tuguegarao City for proper disposition and rehabilitation.
Last year, another Luzon King Cobra was caught in Solana.
CENRO-Solana reminded the public to report the presence of a Luzon King Cobra or other endangered species to authorities for their safety.
