Bomb threat rocks Zamboanga City

Suspicious backpack yields school supplies

ZAMBOANGA CITY – This city was rocked by a bomb threat on Sunday afternoon, June 22.
Investigation said a woman left a backpack on NS Valderrosa St. and hurriedly left.
Security personnel alerted police at around 7 p.m. when she failed to return to retrieve the bag.
The Zamboanga City Police Office, with the Community Police Action Center and 1st Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company, arrived and conducted standard paneling and sanitation procedures that concluded at around 8 p.m.
The procedure yielded negative results for any hazardous substances or explosives. The backpack instead contained school supplies.
Police are investigating the possibility that it was a ruse to test their alertness and vigilance of community members.
A bomb threat was received last week by two public schools here.
