Suspect in murder of vice mayor in Quezon in 2022 killed in gunfight
TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – A suspect in the killing of a Quezon town vice mayor three years ago was killed in a shootout on Friday morning, June 20, in Sitio Santa Ana, Barangay Malao-a, this city.
Police Col. Romulo Albacea, Quezon police director, identified the suspect as Rolando, 52, a resident of the area.
Tayabas City police chief Police Lt. Col. Elizabeth Capistrano said that Rolando fired at lawmen who were about to serve arrest warrants for murder.
Police returned fire and wounded the suspect who was taken to the Tayabas Community Hospital where he was declared dead.
Recovered from the suspect was a Norinco caliber .45 pistol with a magazine and bullets.
He was one of the suspects in the killing of Dolores, Quezon Vice Mayor Danilo Amat in San Pablo City, Laguna on July 22, 2022.
Rolando was also facing a case for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
