SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Proactive and responsive law enforcement and advanced technology will mark the new leadership of the Police Regional Office-Ilocos (PRO-1) in line with the thrust to establish community presence.
No more delayed action. No more excuses. When someone calls for help, we arrive, we respond, we resolve,” newly installed PRO-1 Director Police Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes said during the turnover of command ceremony in Camp Brig. Gen. Oscar Florendo here Saturday.
Reyes said the 911 command centers will be reinforced in urban areas, mobile patrol coverage will be expanded, and stricter response monitoring mechanisms will be implemented.

Reyes said the fight against illegal drugs “will target both the supply chains and the protectors” and will be “intelligence-driven, coordinated and relentlessly enforced.”
He said the regional police office will have intensified operations against all forms of criminality, prioritizing the arrest of most wanted persons as a measure of performance.
Reyes said information and communication technology advancement and full digitization of operations in PRO-1 will also be prioritized.
Crime analytics will guide deployment. Case tracking will be automated. Internal processes will be digitized for speed, accuracy, and transparency. Modern policing requires modern tools. We will equip our officers not just with weapons-but with data, connectivity, and innovation,” he said.
Reyes vowed to reward outstanding performers and discipline erring personnel.
Every officer under my command must live by this: The police should be ready to serve 24 hours a day and seven days a week; approachable and helpful; honest, clean, and dependable. Let us be the police the people respect not out of fear but out of trust, he said.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy “Patnubay” Class of 1995 and the director of the Retirement and Benefits Administration Service prior to his designation to PRO-1, Reyes replaced Brig. Gen. Lou Evangelista, who served for 18 months. (with PNA)
