In his podcast episode released on Saturday, June 21, the President reiterated that the impeachment lies solely with the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“Lahat ng impeachment process nasa lehislatura ‘yan, eh. It's between Congress and the Senate,” he said.
Marcos likewise denied allegations that he has influence over the outcome of the impeachment proceedings.
“To put it bluntly, wala naman akong papel doon sa impeachment (I have no role in the impeachment),” he said.
“Siguro, if the president chooses to do that—I choose not to,” he added.
Last week, the Senate voted 18-5 to remand the articles of impeachment against Vice President Duterte.
According to Marcos, he is focused instead on his core governance priorities.
“I'm busy with the transport, with the rice, with all of the different things that we are doing that nauubos ang oras ko doon (I'm busy with transport, with rice, and the many things we're working on that are taking up all my time),” he said.
Marcos said his main goal for the second half of his term is to ensure tangible improvements in the daily lives of Filipinos.
“We made a change for the better. This has been my guide in all the positions I've taken,” he answered when asked how he would want to be remembered after his term.
“The worst thing that can happen is umupo ka doon sa posisyon mo, na nagsilbi ka, umalis ka, walang pinagbago (The worst thing that can happen is you take a position, serve, and leave without having made a difference),” he added.
The President emphasized that true public service must lead to lasting results.
“I absolutely insist that in 2028, when I leave this office, there are significant and tangible changes for the better in the life of each Filipino,” he said.
