Laborer pinned to death by collapsed wall in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A 55-year-old construction worker was killed by the concrete wall of a hotel comfort room that collapsed at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Friday, June 20.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod took the victim Arnel, a resident of Barangay 35 here, to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Police Capt. Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, said the victim was renovating the portion of the hotel when the incident happened.
His co-worker found him covered with cement from the collapsed wall.
The victim sustained head injuries.
Cayao said they are determining if there was negligence on the part of the victim and lapses on the hotel’s safety measures for construction workers.
