'Blacklisted' Pakistani national arrested in Pagadian City
A Pakistani national, who has been blacklisted as an undesirable alien since 2016, has been arrested in Pagadian City, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Saturday, June 21.
The BI identified him as Sajjad Khan, 31 years old, who was arrested last June 16 by the joint forces of the BI, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the 53rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado issued a mission order for Khan’s arrest after receiving intelligence information about his illegal stay in the country.
The BI said Khan confessed that he entered the Philippines with the use of an illegal migration corridor, more commonly known as a “backdoor.”
Khan was found liable for violation of Section 37(a)(1) of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended, for illegal entry and for being an undocumented alien.
After his arrest, Khan was brought to the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office for documentation and further investigation and was transferred to the BI’s facility in Taguig City for temporary custody pending further legal proceedings.
