5 job order Negros Occidental prov'l gov't employees test positive for drugs
DIAZ
BACOLOD CITY – Five job order casual employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental tested positive for illegal drug use, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II.
A total of 1,878 provincial government employees underwent a random drug testing on Monday, June 16.
Diaz said that this is in preparation for the renewal of contracts of job order workers and contract of services (COS) employees.
“We prioritized them so we can be assured that these employees are really working clean and drug-free,” he added.
Diaz said that they have endorsed the results to the legal department for appropriate notices and processes to the workers as their contract will no longer be renewed by July 1.
Last December, 19 employees, including three regulars, seven job order casual, three contract, and six security guards tested positive in a surprise drug test.
For regular employees found positive, Diaz said that they were subjected to treatment or rehabilitation and can be admitted back to work if they are released clean.
Diaz said that the provincial government will continue campaigning for a drug-free working environment. “It’s part of our campaign to attain a drug-free workplace at the provincial capitol,” Diaz said.
