ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Police bomb disposal units swooped down on two public elementary schools here after a bomb threat was received on Wednesday, June 17.
Police said the threat targeted the Pamucutan and Anuling elementary schools.
Investigation disclosed that Jhelo Serna Rojas, 21, a criminology student of Universidad de Zamboanga and president of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Pamucutan, received the threat through a chat message from an unknown account through their official SK page.
Upon receiving the information, personnel of the Zamboanga City Police Station 9 coordinated with the City Explosives and Ordnance Division unit for bomb paneling procedures.
Personnel established communication with school principals and faculty members to assess the situation and put safety protocols in place.
The search yielded negative results.
The threat came less than a week after a similar incident at the Zamboanga City International Airport was reported by one of the airlines.
Zamboanga City police chief Police Col. Fidel Fortaleza warned the public against making bomb threats, saying such carries corresponding penalties under the law.
