Metro Manila Council President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora receives the Certificate of Recognition from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Emerson Rosales for being declared the first Drug-Cleared City in Metro Manila by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing, in the presence of Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Mayor Francis Zamora personally received a Certificate of Recognition from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday, June 19, officially declaring San Juan as the National Capital Region's first drug-cleared city.
During the Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region’s (RPOC-NCR) 2nd Full Council Meeting, which Zamora also chairs, PDEA-NCR Regional Director Emerson Rosales handed the award to the mayor in the presence of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
The recognition came after the successful deliberation and validation conducted this May by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing, composed of PDEA, DILG, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Department of Health (DOH).

The mayor expressed his gratitude to the oversight committee, the San Juan Police, barangay officials, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, department heads, and the people of San Juan for their collaborative efforts.
He stressed that the city’s fight against illegal drugs does not end with recognition, but will be continuously upheld through sustained enforcement, community-based rehabilitation, and preventive education programs.
San Juan City also currently holds the distinction of having the lowest crime volume in Metro Manila.
