ILOILO CITY – Police Regional Office-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky has been reassigned to head the PRO 4-A (Calabarzon or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area), ending a stint in font-family: Gilroy; display: inline !important;>Western Visayas that lasted almost a year-and-a-half.
He was one of the top senior officers reshuffled by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III effective Thursday, June 19.
Wanky replaced Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, who was a former Iloilo police chief. Lucas was reassigned to the National Capital Regional Police Office.
Wanky was appointed PRO-6 regional director in February 2024, replacing Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Navarro Villaflor.
Western Visayas was then comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
Wanky temporarily served as regional director of the newly-created Negros Island Region last March.
He prioritized the campaigns against illegal drugs and illegal gambling and no major election-related violence occurred during his tenure.
Police Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., deputy director for operations of the NCRPO, was appointed to replace Wanky.
