TACLOBAN CITY – The city government of Ormoc confirmed a patient who tested positive for monkeypox (Mpox) by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City on Thursday, June 19.
The patient is the second confirmed case in Eastern Visayas after a female patient from Sogod, Southern Leyte also tested positive this week.
“All identified close contacts remain asymptomatic and under close daily monitoring, while three probable cases linked to the index patient are also being closely observed,” the city government said.
In an advisory, the city government urged the public to observe measures under Executive Order No. 2025-025 issued on June 2.
The public was advised to observe frequent handwashing, disinfect commonly-touched surfaces, avoid skin-to-skin contact, and wear a mask in crowded places.
