Occidental Mindoro centenarian killed in hit-and-run

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – A centenarian was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Barangay Cabacao, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro on Wednesday, June 18.
Police identified the victim as Rosalinda “Lola Apong” C. de la Rosa, 105, of Sitio Bagong Sikat, Barangay Cabacao.
Police Lt. Col. Ariel S. Roldan, Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office information officer, said the victim was struck by a passing vehicle while crossing a road at about 2 a.m.
Roldan said investigators are combing closed-circuit television cameras in the area and along the road leading to a port to identify the vehicle.
The driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, Roldan said.
Police said she was alone in her house and was on her way to the house of a relative when she was hit.
Dela Rosa had just celebrated her birth anniversary on June 11.
A video circulating on social media showed her singing in a videoke with her relatives during her birthday.
Her family has appealed justice for her death.
