ASG member killed in Zamboanga City shootout

ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf Group member was killed in a shootout with police in Barangay Sangali here on Tuesday, June 17.
Police identified the fatality as Naser Haranain, alias Gapur or Gapul, 29, a resident of Barangay Sangali.
Investigation disclosed that lawmen were about to serve a warrant of arrest against Haranain for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition when he attempted to escape.
He ran towards his pump boat but was met by Marines who served as blocking force.
The suspect fired at the Marines who retaliated and wounded him.
He was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center where he was declared dead.
