Family is everything. But is there a limit to the sacrifice for your family? How far would you go for them?
This question was posed during the press conference for the upcoming drama How to Get Away from My Toxic Family, which was screened in the Philippines for the first time on June 17.
Produced by OgieD Productions and KreativDen Entertainment, the film starring Zanjoe Marudo will be shown exclusively at SM Cinemas beginning July 30. It also stars Susan Africa, Richard Quan, Sherry Lara, and Nonie Buencamino.
Zanjoe and Ogie gave their honest opinion on the intriguing question.
(As long as you can, your brain and your heart can, embrace them and support them. But when you can't anymore, say goodbye. Tell them it's time to prioritize yourself.)
Zanjoe remarked: So hanggang anong age pwedeng sabihin na ako naman? Madalas, hindi mo napapansin, lumilipas ang panahon. Tumatanda ka na rin. Hanggang saan? Hanggang kaya mo lang. (So until what age can I say that it's time to focus on myself? Often, you don't notice, time passes. You are getting older too. Until when? Only until you can.)
(When you get to the point where you have someone who is affected to help your family, if you are already married or have a family or children, maybe you should prioritize your own family), the actor said.

Kaya nasasabi nila yan. (You'd just say you don't want it if you don't have any life experience. In today's generation, that's what they often say because they haven't been through too many ordeals. That's why they say that.)
(Especially if they are jealous of other people's lives. That's why they compare their lives to others. It's also toxic when you compare yourself to others. To succeed, you have to do it step by step), the showbiz journalist pointed out.
Ogie invited viewers to watch the movie even if they can catch up with other foreign films in July. But he urged them not to spoil the ending.
(I don't want to say they should be afraid of us. If we prioritize the nervousness, we won't be able to do it. There's no other movie like this. So we're still trying to make a meaningful movie that will reflect the lives of Filipinos and that they will enjoy), Ogie said.
(We know the situation in movie theaters. They prioritize foreign films. With everyone's help, this movie will reach more people. The way we promote it, we will encourage them to watch it.)
