House of Representatives Spokesperson Princess Abante says no House member in the roster of the just-concluded 19th Congress is stranded in Israel amid that country's intensifying exchange of missile attacks with Iran.
Abante made this qualified statement Wednesday, June 18 in a press conference.
Sa pagkakaalam ko, walang members ng 19th Congress ang nasa Israel ngayon. Following the statement of secretary general (Reginald Velasco), I think may mga nagplano pero hindi natuloy, she said.
(As far as I know, there are no members of the 19th Congress currently in Israel. Following the statement of Secretary General Reginald Velasco, I believe there were plans, but they didn’t push through.)
Pero again from what I was informed, walang members ng 19th Congress ang nasa Israel (But again from what I was informed, there are no members of the 19th Congress in Israel), stressed the lawyer-spokesperson.
Solons elected to the 19th Congress will technically be in office until June 30. Their terms began on June 30, 2022.
The plenary sessions ended last June 11.
Asked if she knew of former congressmen who were stranded in Israel, Abante said she couldn't answer the question based on the information she has.
Abante added that she had no personal knowledge about solons who may be in transit to Israel or have changed their travel itineraries.
Meanwhile, Abante said the House was monitoring the situation in Israel. She added that the House was banking on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to do its job to protect our citizens.
