Manila Bulletin among most trusted media brands in the Philippines, Reuters Institute report shows
Despite a challenging environment marked by the spread of disinformation and harmful content, the Manila Bulletin remains one of the most trusted media brands in the Philippines, based on the 2025 Digital News Report by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.
The report shows that 62 percent of respondents said they trust the Manila Bulletin.
Only 10 percent said they distrust the media organization, while 28 percent expressed a neutral view.
Trust ratings for other media brands included in the survey are as follows: GMA Network (67 percent), Philippine Daily Inquirer (63 percent), TV5 (61 percent), Philippine Star (61 percent), DZBB (61 percent), ABS-CBN (60 percent), DZRH (59 percent), TeleRadyo (57 percent), regional or local newspaper (55 percent), Radyo Pilipinas (54 percent), SunStar (52 percent), PTV (51 percent), Abante/Abante Tonight (46 percent), and Rappler (43 percent).
According to the Reuters Institute, overall trust in news has remained relatively stable since the end of Rodrigo Duterte’s presidency in 2022.
However, trust in many individual brands has declined, a trend linked to the spread of political disinformation and a more polarized media landscape.
The report also noted that news outlets perceived as critical of those in power often face active distrust from partisan audiences and are sometimes targeted by coordinated harassment.
The Reuters Institute emphasized that the figures reflect the public’s subjective views and are not an objective measure of the accuracy or quality of content.
