Authorities arrested a 25-year-old construction worker during a foot patrol operation in Baseco compound, Port Area, Manila, on Tuesday, June 17.
The suspect, identified as Rahim Singgon Jr., was apprehended at around 10:45 a.m. by operatives of Manila Police District (MPD) Station 13 along Block 9 Tambakan, Barangay 649, Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila.

According to the police, MPD personnel were conducting a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) when they noticed Singgon standing suspiciously at the corner of an alley.
As officers approached, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee and was seen reaching for an object tucked in his waist.
A brief chase ensued which resulted in Singgon’s arrest.
Upon inspection, authorities recovered from his possession one improvised firearm loaded with one live round of ammunition.
Singgon faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act 10591) before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
