CEBU CITY – An e-bike driver yielded suspected shabu worth P5.4 million when he was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Mandaue City on Tuesday afternoon, June 17.
The 41-year-old suspect, a certain Amel, was cornered by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) on M. Logarta St., Barangay Subangdaku.
The suspect is a resident of Barangay San Roque, Talisay City, Cebu and went to Mandaue to meet the buyer, who turned out to be a decoy, said Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7.
Alcantara said it took two weeks of case buildup before the suspect was cornered.
“He is a newly identified drug personality. Investigation is ongoing to determine if he belongs to a drug group,” said Alcantara.
Alcantara added that the PDEA-7 received information that the suspect was selling one to two kilos of shabu a week.
Packs of shabu seized from the suspect weighed 800 grams.
A charge for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect, said Alcantara.
